Why post timing matters
When you post is just as important as what you post. Optimal timing helps ensure your content appears when your audience is most likely to see and engage with it.
These insights are especially helpful when planning your content calendar. Engage+ uses this data to suggest the most effective post times for each account.
Note: Timing is platform-specific. Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms may have different peak engagement windows.
How to access Post Insights
To get started, go to the Post Insights page and follow these steps:
- Select one or more social media accounts.
The insights will update based on the selected accounts.
- Review the recommendations
You’ll see the optimal post times and best-performing content types for each platform.
These recommendations are tailored to each account, helping you decide when and what to post for the best results.
Examples
Here’s what Post Insights might show for different platforms:
-
Facebook:
- Optimal time: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (ET)
- Best post type: Image posts
-
LinkedIn:
- Optimal time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (ET)
- Best post type: Short text posts
These insights help you post the right content at the right time for each platform.
Scheduling with the Content Calendar
When you drag and drop saved content onto the Content Calendar, Engage+ Content Marketing automatically assigns a posting time based on the average optimal time across all selected accounts.
Example:
If a post is scheduled for both Facebook and LinkedIn, the system will choose a time that falls between each platform’s recommended posting window.
For example, if Facebook’s optimal time is 9:00 a.m. and LinkedIn’s is 1:00 p.m., the system will automatically schedule the post around 11:00 a.m., the midpoint between the two.
Tip: For better performance, schedule posts individually for each social media account instead of posting the same content at the same time across all platforms.
You can always manually adjust the post time if needed.
Interpreting the data
The Post Insights page shows you patterns based on how your audience interacts with your posts. Here are some tips to help you understand and use the data:
- Look for patterns. Check if certain days or times get more engagement. Posting during these times can help more people see and interact with your content.
- See what types of posts work best. Some posts, like photos or short messages, may get more likes or comments than others. Try using the types that perform well more often.
- Check if timing affects performance. If you are posting at the recommended times but not seeing good results, try testing different times to see what works better.
- Watch out for one-time results. A single post with a lot of engagement might be an exception. Focus on what works most of the time, not just once.
- Compare results by platform. What works well on one platform may not work on another. Use the insights for each account to adjust your posts.
Using the insights this way can help you make better decisions about when and what to post. Over time, this can improve your results and help you reach more people.
Optimizing your strategy
Post Insights can help you refine your overall social media strategy:
- Low engagement? Try adjusting your post times to better align with your audience’s habits.
- Inconsistent results across platforms? Review each platform’s insights separately and tailor your approach.
- Strong performance with specific content types? Double down on what works best during your optimal time slots.
Use these insights to continuously improve your posting strategy and increase engagement over time.
