Why your agency needs a Facebook Business Page
A strong online presence is essential for your insurance agency, and a Facebook Business Page can help you reach more people, connect with clients, and grow through referrals. Facebook is a trusted platform where clients can share recommendations and refer your business to friends.
According to Oracle, 44% of consumers use social media to inform their purchases, and 80% of consumers have made purchases in direct response to social media content (click to view the survey(opens in a new window)).
Setting up a Facebook Business Page is simple, and this guide will show you how. By spending just a little time, you can create a page that generates leads and builds trust with your clients.
Facebook is a powerful tool that helps your agency in four big ways:
- Get noticed: Reach more people with Facebook’s 2 billion active users.
- Build trust: Share helpful tips, client stories, and updates about your agency.
- Find new clients: Use tools like Facebook Lead Ads to get leads and send visitors to your website for quotes.
- Get referrals: Encourage satisfied clients to share your page or posts with their friends and family.

Setting up your Facebook Business Page ensures your agency’s information is accurate and accessible, helping you attract clients and build trust. Follow the steps below to get started. For full details and the latest instructions, click to visit Facebook’s official help page(opens in a new window).
Before you begin
- You must have a personal Facebook account. Click to view Facebook’s account creation instructions(opens in a new window).
- If you just created a new Facebook account, you might need to wait 1-3 days before making a Facebook Business Page. Facebook limits new accounts to prevent misuse.
Create a Facebook Business Page
- Click this link https://www.facebook.com/(opens in a new window) to open Facebook in a new tab or window.
- This takes you to the official Facebook page where you will sign into your personal Facebook account.
- Enter your email address and password, then click "Log In" to sign in to your personal Facebook account.
- Don’t worry, your account details will remain private.
- On the left-hand side of Facebook, you’ll see a list of links. If you don’t see it, try making the window wider. Then, click the ‘Pages’ link in the list.
-
The left-hand panel might show links in a different order depending on how your Facebook account is set up. If you don’t see the ‘Pages’ link, click ‘See more’ to expand the list and find it. - On the left-hand side, in the Pages panel, click the ‘+ Create New Page’ button.
-

- You may not see this window. If Facebook skips this step, continue to Step 7.
- Click the ‘Get started’ button to continue.
-
- In the Create a Page panel, enter your Page name and select categories that best describe your agency.
-
Your page name should match your business name—the one you use when introducing it to others. You can change your page name, but Facebook only allows changes once every 60 days.
For most of our customers, the "insurance agent" or "insurance broker" categories will apply. However, we recommend exploring all available categories to find the ones that best describe your business.
The bio section is optional; you can skip and update it later.
- Click the ‘Create Page’ button to create your new Facebook Business Page.
-
Note: If you see a message saying an error occurred while creating the page, Facebook might be restricting your account. This usually happens with new Facebook accounts, and you might need to wait 1-3 days before you can create a Facebook Business Page. Facebook puts limits on new accounts to prevent misuse.
- In the Finish setting up your Page panel, you’ll need to enter your contact information, location, and hours of availability.
- (Optional) In the Customize your Page panel, upload a profile image and a cover photo. You can skip and add them later. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue.
- You have the option to add an Action Button. An Action Button can link to your website, your calendar scheduler, and more. Click for Facebook's official instructions(opens in a new window).
- Click the ‘Next’ button to continue.
- (Optional) In the Connect WhatsApp to your Page panel, you can enter your WhatsApp phone number to connect it to your Facebook Business Page. You can skip and add it later.
- (Optional) In the Build your Page audience panel, you can invite friends from your Facebook account’s contacts list. We recommend doing this to help you grow your referral business. You can also skip this step for now and invite them later,
- In the Stay Informed About Your Page panel, choose which Facebook features you want notifications for. Click "Done" when you're ready to continue.
- By default, notifications for page updates are turned on, meaning you'll receive alerts whenever someone interacts with your page. These notifications work the same way as those for your personal Facebook account. You can easily add, remove, or update your notification settings. Click to manage your notifications in Facebook(opens in a new window) (make sure you’re signed into your Facebook account).
- The screen will update to display your new Facebook Business Page. If you skipped adding a profile picture, cover photo, or inviting friends earlier, a window will appear with these options. You can complete these steps now or click the ‘Skip for now’ button and update your Page later.
- Once completed, your new Facebook Business Page will be ready.
